In 2015, we developed and executed a strategy which helped establish The Source as an industry-leading publication in the water sector – and become sustainable in three months.

Quality content demands qualified traffic.

With high-quality, exclusive content that The Source is producing, it was clear from the start that subscription was the right business model to go with. Still, having a very specific target audience meant that getting the content in front of readers will not be so straightforward, and that some of the more obvious acquisition methods will not necessarily work.

Acquisition strategy

To boost the readership and create advertising opportunities, we created and executed a strategy that produced results in 90 days.

Mobile apps

With most content being consumed on the go, we designed and developed native iOS and Android apps to compliment the website.

Single sign-on

The Source needed to be integrated in the partner’s digital portfolio, which we accomplished through a single sign-on point and tight integration.

Newsletters still work

By promoting the newsletter heavily in the early days, we built up the subscription count to 12,000 subscribers - enough for advertisers to take notice.
